THE HUMAN CONDITION EXHIBITION
ATHANEAUM GALLERY, ALEXANDRIA FEB 16 - MARCH 22, 2020

The magnificent Atheneaum Gallery in Old Town Alexandria presented a select number of works that addressed The Human Condition. One of my Selfie paintings was on show. Besides exploring the physical form, artists were asked to consider how a person's personality, emotions, challenges, preferences, and experiences can be visually represented. In the age of selfies, one is continually studying oneself as an objective observer. This was the last physical exhibition of my work before the reality of the CORONA virus began to affect every aspect of our lives.

 TO HEAL THE WORLD
 June 15 - 18 August, 2020

My ceramic sculpture, Generations, was selected for inclusion in CARAVAN's   To Heal The World. This work was created with a heavy heart, yet    with a   semblance of hope for the future. My fears for our beautiful planet are           tempered by the hope that our mistakes will not be repeated by generations to     come. And it appears that there is indeed a groundswell of youth who are             ready to stand up and protect that which we abused –
the healing will come and the young will climb on the shoulders of the elderly to   forge a new world.

SEPTEMBER 2019:  FRANCE HERE I COME - AGAIN

You can take the girl out of France, but you can't take the French out of the   girl! Aside from the artist residency in Hyeres for the month of July (SEE   DETAILS ABOVE) my work was included in an exhibition at the magnificent   Benedictine abbey (pictured left) organized by Les Amis de la Grande Vigne   together with the Yvonne Jean-Haffen Museum in Dinan.

SPEEDBALL ART PRIZE JAN 2019 : THE BIG PICTURE COLLECTIVE

I uploaded an image of one of my works onto The Big Picture Collective because I believe in their mission - bringing together thousands of artists from all around the world to create a humongous mosaic picture that reflects our multi-cultural world. It is totally cool - check out where my work fits in the Big Picture here. I thought I had done my bit but then I received word that my image, Self Portrait with a Goat (left), was selected out of hundreds of entries for the Speedball Art Prize!

ESPRIT DE FRANCE Exhibition and workshop
Western Wyoming Community College Gallery OCT - NOV  2018

Western Wyoming Community College exhibited my French Girls mixed   media series in a two-woman show with collage artist, Lili Francuz.
It was a pleasure to teach a 3-day intensive workshop on collage technique   in conjunction with the show. Collage is one of the most democratic of   mediums requiring at its very basic, a pair of scissors, glue, and found   scraps of paper. Picasso and Braque were the first artists to use pre-   existing  materials in their art.

ARTIST IN RESIDENCE JULY 2019
LMSTUDIO IN HYERES, FRANCE

Artist residencies are all about experimentation and allowing the new environment to organically insert itself into one's work. The mixed media work at left (SOLD) was initially inspired by the colors of the French flag - prominently displayed in anticipation of Bastille Day, France's Independence Day. I've been working on watercolor, mixed media and getting back to my first love - painting! Check out my blog and my INSTAGRAM @liliannemilgrom for more about my experience.

MILGROM ARTICLE ON MORANDI/DE WAAL
Ceramics Monthly Magazine, June Quarterly edition 2018

I was fortunate enough to experience a stunning exhibition at Stockholm's   Artipelag Museum last year: 'Morandi/Edmund de Waal'. Everything about   this exhibition was designed to inspire stillness, encourage contemplation,   and amplify the sounds of silence. To experience the Morandi/Edmund de   Waal exhibition was to divorce oneself from the chaos of the modern world.

My featured review of this exhibition has been published in Ceramics   Monthly, the leading magazine on the ceramic arts. Read the article here.

FINALIST: CROSS MACKENZIE HOLIDAY CLAY COMPETITION
District Clay Center 2018

My work was selected by one of the leading national galleries known for showcasing ceramic art. The sculpture (left) is from a series interweaving figurative human elements and representatives from the natural world may appear whimsical at first glance. Upon closer inspection however, one can discern an underlying darker narrative. They are the antithesis of the smooth and shiny figurine tradition.

My installation J'accuse (I accuse!) contains multiple references to anti-semitism throughout history, from Emile Zola's famous letter to the swastika-emblazoned banners of the Nazi regime. By inserting my own accusatory image, I am exposing the latent bigotry that can be awakened within each of us. Details about the exhibition and my artist talk here.
