installation: eat well...die anyway
Dying is part of life, right? So you may as well have a sense of humor about it. A while back I received a mass email containing a bunch of one-liner jokes. As a visual artist, images often pop into my head when I read. In this case, one of the witty one-liners read "Eat well, exercise regularly, die anyway".
I loved the macabre humor and immediately began making a set of dishes inscribed with these phrases, seeing the progression of the phrase as the natural course of life, with the last plate being the final course, so to speak.
The plates are wheel thrown with hand lettering in underglazes. I made a two-person setting and created a matching tabletop edged with handmade mosaics. The installation was first exhibited in Raanana, Israel in a group show called Texterra - the pairing of clay and text. It has since been exhibited in Italy, and the United States.
