installation: basic needs

PictureBasic needs
This installation has been exhibited more times than I can remember. It was originally created for a group exhibition called Babe, the focus of which was the use of, interpretation and connotation of the word "babe" and what it implies about women.

My installation - Basic Needs - refers to the basest of human needs, the bodily functions which act as The Great Equalizer. Exhibiting a recreated toilet stall with an obviously sexy and glamorous woman inside, was a not-so-tactful reminder that we are all the same at the end of the day. The 'babes' that both men and women tend to place on a pedestal still have to take care of basic needs.

Mixed media : constructed stall, mannequin legs, interior lighting. 3' x 6' x 3'.
